Macs are great for things other than games, but their specs aren't really that great for gaming. It would probably fare OK, but by far the best option is to build something yourself.

The reason I would say Macs, and in particular Mac Minis aren't that great for games is because they are very processor heavy, whereas for games it needs to be more graphics heavy. An i7 and 16GB of RAM is massive overkill compared to the Intel graphics they use. I don't think many people on here actually buy Macs for gaming, it's more that they already have a Mac, and want to play games, which you can do, but they aren't machines built for that purpose.

It's not very hard to put something together yourself, and you can get a lot of help over on. It is possible to find fairly small cases that would probably fit your idea quite well. I think if you choose your parts well you can get a lot more price/performance than that of a Mac Mini when it comes to gaming. You could probably even make a hackintosh of you are really set on having OS X for whatever reason, but I see absolutely no reason to get a Mac specifically for gaming. Don't get me wrong, they are great for other things, but gaming, meh. I'd say ideally you want dedicated graphics, I believe the GTX 750Ti is good for small builds, due to low power connsumption and fairly small in size.

I'm not sure where integrated graphics are at right now, but last I heard, AMD APUs were the best if not going dedicated. This site provides a fairly good rough guide to balanced setups at different price points.

Hope this helps a bit.
