I'm running OSX 10.8.1 and can connect using Android File Transfer app on mac and Galaxy S3. Open Android File Transfer on mac 2. Pull down the GS3 notifications bar 3. Make sure the USB option you have selected is 'Connected as a camera'. You should have full USB file access to the phone and external card from there. SIM card lock limits your Samsung Galaxy Note 1/2/3/4/4 Edge/Note 5, Galaxy S2/S3/S4/S5/ S6/S6 Edge/S6 Edge Plus/S7 to the network of one carrier or one country. To unlock SIM card lock on Samsung Galaxy, of course, you may ask your carrier for help.
A similar but different question from a Mac and S3 user that is fairly illiterate in all this. I use Android file transfer, easytether, and Missing Sync and have had absolutely no issues in setup or being able to do everything I want between the phone and Mac. Clearly, there is something I lucked into between my phone and my Mac. However, from this thread, there is clearly some combination that does not work. My question to you smarties.
Is there a common theme of failure that I need to make sure I don't inadvertently create; such as stay at my current mac version (10.6.8). My phone is a business phone; I can not lose this connection due to some silly mistake on my part. Thanks for any guidance, Mike.

I'm having the same issues and a few others which I am working through.
I think the bottom line for us is that Samsung is not making Kies compatible with the 10.8.x (latest release of the Mac OS, I forget what cat they named it after). Android/Google is similar in concept to iCloud/iPhone. I think I'm going to finally give Apple the pitch though 'cause Windows 7 is a pretty stable platform and I don't need the headaches. The S3 will not simply mount to iOS 10.8.x like it does to Windows. Haven't tried Parallels yet but I'm betting that works.
