How To Format A Book In Word For Mac 2011
A booklet provides a good format when you need more space than a pamphlet provides but don't have enough information to fill a complete book. Microsoft Word for Mac 2008 does not include a feature for booklet printing.
Hi Experts: I need to know how to 'customize paper size' in Word Mac 2011, similar to the equivalent feature in MS Word 2011 for PCs (which works well for my need for 11' x 17' size) on a PC, where the 11' x 17' size is one of the options on the 'Size' drop-down from the MS Word 2010 toolbar. However, I need to perform the same work on the document on my MacBook Pro/OS 10.7.5. I have searched for 'customize paper size' in the Word Mac 2011 Help, but I obtain no responses (hits). I have tried the File/Page Setup/selecting the Untitled setting at 17' x 11', with Any Printer setting.
However, the settings revert to the previous Legal size used as a 'workaround', pending resolution of the apparent 'glitch' in Word Mac 2011. Strangely, performing the same operations on the same document on my daughter's MacBook Pro 13' laptop appeared to produce the correct result!
Appreciatively, Arbyem. Hi Maidnhain: Yes, as reported in my original post, I have tried this on both my MacBook Pro and my daughter's MacBook Pro. I have obtained a successful result with only one of the five documents for which the 11'x17' size is required. This one had an 'Other' customized size at 11'x17'. However, using the 'Untitled' option (I cannot seem to change the title of the customized selection!) at 11'x17', the program seems to insist on reverting to the 'default' Legal size which was used for the original documents. As a 'work-around', I intend to try to rename the successful document and copy & paste the contents of each of the others, in turn, to the 11'x17' formatted document. It is a 'kludgy' approach, but I need a resolution quickly, since the project is due for completion very soon!
I do not understand why the MacWord version does not conform to the MS Word for PC version which has an 11'x17' option listed in the drop-down menu for the paper size. Appreciatively, Arbyem. Hi again Madnhain: Noting that no one else seems to be able to suggest why the inconsistency exists with the 11'x17' paper size requirement, I will abandon this posting stream. I used a 'work-around' of selecting the one successfully formatted document, renaming it, and deleting the contents and replacing them with a copy from the next document's legal-sized 8-1/2'x14' contents. I then repeated the process for each of the remaining three documents. I now have the five documents in the requisite 11'x17' format. I have attached one of the subject documents.
However, I have not yet tested the transfer of the Word for Mac 2011, v14.2.5 based documents to the PC MS Word 2011 laptop, to ensure that the transfer occurs seamlessly, i.e. With no change in content!
How to format wd my passport raid for mac. I am also somewhat sceptical about using the.docx format and transferring the documents between the Mac and PC laptops. BTW, I have Parallels for Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro OS 10.7.5, but I opted for Office for Mac 2011 in lieu of reloading my MS Word 2007 version from my inoperable HP Laptop under Win 7.
I also do not understand how to rename the 'Untitled' option for paper sizes not listed in the drop-down menu in Word for Mac 2011. Appreciatively, Arbyem. That's a bit of a work around, I can't seem to find a reason as to why this is happening. I was hoping that somebody else may have some insight!
I've never had any problems with the.docx format between mac and PC, I don't foresee you having an issue there. As for Renaming the 'untitled', we can fix that. Go to File > Page Setup > Paper Size > Manage Custom Sizes In the menu on the left where there is a list of 'Untitled' Custom sizes, double click on the name 'Untitled'. This will give you the option of renaming it to whatever you wish. Hi Madnhain: I have tried this process many times. Regrettably, double-clicking does not produce any action at all - even after waiting for several minutes!
Did you try that process using the copy of the document which I provided - with success? However, given that the process has worked, using the'Untitled' name, I will leave the resolution as noted - unless someone else can provide a solution to the lack of reaction to the double-click on the 'Untitled' name for the option for 11'x17' paper size. I will close this posting stream accordingly. Appreciatively, Arbyem.
