Often, updates have a tendency to change a Preference setting or 2. I don't know why & nobody has ever given me a plausible explanation. It shouldn't happen, but it does:-) Normally, though, if you just switch to Print Layout View, then back to Normal View, the lines should appear.
Also, if you go into the Print dialog even if you Cancel the lines show up. Today I updated to 15.27 (161010). The problem still persists. I can Insert a Page Break but the blue lines do not show up, and the printed output ignores the forced page breaks.
I know it takes the Insert because then Remove Page Break is enabled where I placed the break. I have the latest drivers for my HP Officejet 150 Mobile L511 and my HP Officejet Pro 8630, and the result is the same for both printers. I would also like to state that I have Excel for Mac 2016 (365) 15.30 (170107), which is the latest update, and the ability to view blue page break lines is still not possible!

Even with the 'view page breaks' selected in preferences, it just doesn't work. This is ridiculous. I understand that MS in all its wisdom also removed the capability to move the page breaks in the Mac version (when it actually was working.). There is far more functionality with Excel 2016 Windows version. Such a shame we Mac users should be penalised for doing so. I thought that MS and Apple were making attempts at great alignment for productivity purposes.well not from what I can see.
I have Parallels and use the Windows version of Excel as well, but even more annoying is that whilst one can change the page breaks etc. In Windows, if you then view the same file in the Mac version of Excel, the page break formatting is often at totally different points. The answer to this question has changed since it was originally asked, because Excel has changed. The latest version of Excel is Excel 2016. There is no Excel 2017 for Mac or for PC.
You are way behind on your updates. After updating you will find a new Page Break Preview button to click in the status bar in the lower right, as shown here: Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection, then: • Update Mac OS X.
