Hi, I'm not quite sure, if this is the right subforum but after all, it's about storage devices, so I thought it fits best in here. However both devices are recognized with lsusb under linux. I don't think, they are defective, the last thing, I think I did with them was to format them to an OSX Filesystem and encrypt them, afterwards I tried to format them with Linux but was not able to do so, since they are write protected and every program I tried to format them with either crashes or gives me an error because of this. Here's my problem: I've got two San Disk USB 3.0 16gb thumb drives (this one with 16 gigs ) and one of it is not recognized under windows/linux/OSX, the other one can't be read from / written on. For both thumb drives it's impossible to format them (tried with the system tools on Win7/OSX and Gparted and mkfs on Debian). Download brute foece usb for osx.
